Since their was a FAA person joining us on this flight, the GAs were strict, by the book on everything this particular morning. It's size and soft case allowed it to fit snugly into the rear corner of the ovhd bins and still allow people to put their roller boards in front of it. I had travelled with this instrument every other week to/from MSY for several years without incident. I was departing SEA in Aug 2002 with a $2500 elec guitar in a soft case. Of course, he just walked back and found spot to put it, then slowed down the boarding process as he walked forward from the rear of the plane, and at that point did not care if the flight was late as the FA had made him mad enough for the day just for being so unfriendly. On EI or WN they would have taken his bag and stowed it for him in a bin somehwere and let him know where it was. First class overhead was full and he asked the FA if she could help him find a place to put his rolly bag (that would have fit in Size Wize) and she looked at him like he was out of his mind. Infact, I was flying last week on DL in firts, and my collegue did not manage to board until coach had started to board. On DL, one things the FAs dont like to do is deal with hand baggage. On WN, frequently (but not always) FAs will try to help you find space in a bin and rearange bags a bit to try and help you find space. On Aer Lingus, the FAs keep an eye on how the bags are being placed in the bins and constantly walk up and down the isles and try to rearange things as they are being placed on the bins to help insure there is ample room. Often times it is possibly to rearange the stuff in the bin and make enough room for another bag or two. Correct?Īm I alone in my twisted & obsessive view?Īnother problem is how the PAX places the bags in the overhead bins. ![]() Therefor, any bag that will NOT fit wheels first is in violation (This means YOU you overstuffed monster-bag from Costco bin-stealing cretin!). The way I understand it.and I know I will be corrected in under 3 minutes around here if I am wrong.is that if it fits in the sizewise device, it will fit in a non-RJ overhead bin wheels first. If they arent going to be used, melt them down for scrap and get em' out of my sight before I go postal and get plastic cuffed by an air-marshall! It frustrates the hell out of me to see someone walk by this device with a bag that obviously wouldnt fit if you cut it in half. WHAT is the Delta GA internal policy on this? Are they supposed to be forcing people to "sizewise" their bags during boarding? Is it 100% optional for the GA? Does management just not give a ****? Usually they just push it around to use as a psuedo crowd control device, blocking side aisle access during boarding, etc. WHY does the sizewise device collect dust in the corner of the gate like some artifact from 1970? In my 10 years of flying Delta, I have NEVER seen a GA use it, point to it, make someone test their bag in it, etc. An off-topic discussion in another thread got me going on my #1 peave.
