I haven't tested it yes, but I am curious if they also boost hunter production ( not sure since the workers aren't actually in the building ). Shrines and Agitators are for boosting work production, so I tend to build them near the steam hubs, since those tend to be center of production areas, or the workshops. I usually only build one Arena, and three of the other. If you put them in the third ring, three can cover nearly all the houses in the first four rings, so four probably isn't worth it. These you want these to cover all your homes. Don't be afraid to build another, and try turning them off and on to achieve the coverage you want, you can always knock down the unused ones later.įighting Arenas, Church, and Watchtowers all have areas they cover. If you are trying to optimize, there are probably two answers, one for mid-game, and another for end-game. I have also found that late the in game use of automatons might change what things I still need heated. Overlapping doesn't improve the heating, so I usually try to avoid overlapping just to maximize covered areas. I then use the next one for a mine, and other buildings like the pub, or extra healthcare. Usually my first steam hub ends up being by a mine, and having a row of workshops in range. I tend to put them in the best spot for the building I needed it for, then build other stuff into their heating range. Steam hub placement is tricky, since you tend to place them in the mid-game before you have range and power upgrades. The big issue is to place things in the correct areas, which usually means understanding heating ranges, building that don't require heating, and those that have areas of effect or don't. You might feel differently, and that is ok. There are a bunch of posts about the way to squeeze more houses into the inner heating area, but those always seem like cheating to me.
